Elon Musk is searching for volunteers to try out his controversial new ‘brain microchip’

Tech tycoon Elon Musk is calling on humans to take part in his controversial Neurolink trial, which will involve a robot inserting a microchip into their brains

Elon Musk is on the hunt for volunteers to help him trial his new brain microchip for his company Neuralink.

The Tesla CEO is keen to go ahead with the next stage, despite facing backlash after more than 1,000 animals reportedly dropped dead during the trials.

It comes after an independent review board approved the testing to be conducted on people who suffer from cervical spinal cord injuries or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

People who suffer from conditions like paralysis can also be included in the trial. Musk previously claimed the technology “will enable someone with paralysis to use a smartphone with their mind faster than someone using thumbs.”
