Taylor Swift has experienced years of slut shaming, but always managed to ‘Shake It Off’. Her new song titled Slut is likely to be a reflection of those experiences
Taylor Swift gave fans a peek into 1989 (Taylor’s Version) about a month before it will be available to listen. With the new vault track title reveal came a controversial and bold name: “Slut!”.
However, according to Taylor, no one is actually a slut. In her 2020 documentary Miss Americana, she said: “I’m [trying to] deprogram the misogyny in my own brain. Toss it out, reject it, and resist it… There is no such thing as a slut, there is no such thing as a b***h, there is no such thing as someone who’s bossy-there’s just a boss. We don’t want to be condemned for being multi-faceted.”

The music icon is known for her ‘long list of ex-lovers’ which has left her as the target for constant ridicule fuelled by sexism. Taylor has constantly pushed back against the hate she’s received by emphasising that if she were man, she’d never experience the same response.
