 Rail passengers are waking up to cancelled and altered services this morning following heavy rain overnight. There have been a number of yellow weather warnings from the Met Office in place across the UK as we face a double whammy of the remnants of Hurricane Lee, followed by the remnants of Hurricane Nigel this weekend. There were warnings for rain covering parts of south east England from 4pm on Wednesday, which remained in place until 3am today. Commuters who usually travel through Stevenage will face disruption this morning after damage to overhead electrical wires caused the closure of all lines via the station. National Rail has told passengers not to travel on these routes. Disruption is expected until 9am, covering the busy rush hour period. A National Rail statement said all lines between London Kings Cross/Moorgate and Stevenage are closed following 'a number of incidents'. It added: 'Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 90 minutes or revised. Major disruption is expected until 09:00.' Disruption has also been reported through Tulse Hill, Cheltenham Spa and between Lewes and Wivelsfield and West Ealing and Greenford. London Overground services between Euston and Watford Junction are also impacted, due to an obstruction on the track. Flooding had earlier affected rail lines at Burnham, Buckinghamshire and between Swansea and Llandrindod in Wales, with both incidents since cleared up. Sunny spells are forecast for the east of England this morning, while some heavy and thundery showers could break out elsewhere throughout the day before easing in the evening. Met Office meteorologist Aidan McGivern said: 'A band of rain will clear by the start of Thursday and that will be followed by sunny spells and showers with low pressure never too far away from the UK.
