Sex Education season 4 welcomes a whole load of new characters – but one of them was actually meant to be entirely different… Enter Sarah 'O' Owen, played by Thaddea Graham. Known simply as O, the student runs a sex therapy clinic at Cavendish College and has built up quite the client list. It doesn't take long for her to become rivals with Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield), aka Moordale's resident sexpert. O dishes out advice to her fellow students, helping them manage their sex lives and navigate relationships but keeping her own emotions close to her chest. A few episodes in, viewers (and Cavendish students) learn that O is actually asexual as she comes out to her peers, having initially been anxious that no one would want to take sex advice from someone who doesn't have sex. O's character wasn't written this way from the start, however, as Metro.co.uk learned when chatting with Yasmin Benoit, an asexual activist who worked as a scriptwriter and consultant on Sex Education's final season. What is asexuality? Someone who is asexual is a person who does not experience sexual attraction. Some asexual people experience romantic attraction, while others do not. Asexual people who experience romantic attraction might also use terms such as gay, bisexual, lesbian, straight, and queer in conjunction with asexual to describe the direction of their romantic attraction.
