Woman’s horror as partner engulfed in flames and face ‘fell off’ in FIREBALL explosion

Chelsea Radford feared she would witness her partner Rob Braithwaite burn alive when she heard a ‘massive explosion’ after an incident at their home in Hemsworth, West Yorkshire and is warning others of the dangers of using petrol on fires

A horrified singer thought her fiancé was going to burn to death in front of her as his face “fell off” when he was caught in an explosion after pouring a tiny amount of petrol on a fire to clear their veg patch.

Chelsea Radford feared she would witness her partner Rob Braithwaite burn alive after an allotment bonfire near their home in Hemsworth, West Yorkshire, went drastically wrong in May. The couple had been trying to clear their new allotment by burning old debris when Rob decided to use a “small amount” – apparently less than a cup full – of petrol to kickstart the fire.

The 30-year-old described the shocking moment she watched pieces of her partner’s face “fall to the ground” as he was engulfed in flames, leaving him wailing in excruciating pain. Rob, a 35-year-old who owns a landscape gardening business, was lighting a small fire at the couple’s allotment when things took a horrifying turn for the worse.

Chelsea, a dog-walking business-owner and part-time singer, heard a “massive explosion” before seeing her other half running towards her covered in flames – with chunks of his face falling away as it melted. After being dashed to hospital via ambulance, doctors rushed to save Rob as the burns caused his throat to swell up – putting his life further at risk.
