 An ultra low emission zone (Ulez) camera van has been handed a ticket after parking illegally. Pictures show the vehicle, which is fitted with a number plate reader, parked on the side of the road in Sidcup. The vans help enforce the daily charge, which ensures vehicles which do not meet the new emission standards all across London have to pay to enter and drive in the Ulez zone. Drivers who fail to pay the £12.50 cost will receive a Penalty charge Notice, which could be raised to up to £1,500 if not paid within 28 days. Lee Cheal, who posted the pictures, said he spotted the van and called the council to complain. Transport for London said the driver of the van has been 'reminded of their responsibilities'. They said: 'TfL fully supports the use of highway authority powers to enforce against parking in unauthorised locations. 'We have reminded the driver of this vehicle regarding their responsibilities and our contractor, who will be paying the penalty charge notice.' Scotland Yard has launched 'Operation Eremon' to investigate the spate of attacks, according to ITV. Some of the vans have been daubed with graffiti, had their tyres deflated and cameras covered in bags. It has happened across London, but photos show areas like Crayford where a van was daubed with 'no ULEZ' on the side.
