Carol Vorderman has received many supportive messages from fans and showbiz pals after falling ill with Covid-19 . Taking to her Instagram story, the ex Countdown host went make-up-free as she revealed she had been in bed for two days trying to recover. She said: “I’m speaking to you from my bed because I’ve got this, yes Covid. And I’ve slept for about two days – well not really – and I feel great now, I feel as though I’m ready to get back to work.” Carol, 62, went on to say she will be taking another test later which she hoped would be negative. “And for the first time I’ve put a nightie on,” she added. ‘I thought it’s best to do that before I do the video.” Carol Vorderman told fans she had been in bed for two days with Covid-19 (Image: INSTAGRAM/CAROLVORDERMAN) Carol captioned her post: ‘Covid Mamma here. Slept for what seems like two days. Ha and feel great now. ‘Mind you scruff bomb here. Not brushed my hair for two days either. ‘Found a nightie to put on before I did this video, thought best or it could have turned into something else entirely… lols.”(sic) Many of Carol’s 407,000 followers flocked to her post to share their supportive comments. Kym Marsh wrote: “Hope you’re ok darling xxx I’ve had it again recently and it was horrid! She wrote: “I got hold of a test, and yes I managed to pick up Covid somewhere or other, lots around! “Slept all day Sunday. Feel a lot lot better today tho.”(sic) The mother-of-two said her symptoms included tiredness, a headache and a drippy nose, but “nothing chesty”. Carol’s illness comes amid reports that a new BA.2.86 variant nicknamed Pirola is thought to be spreading around the UK. According to the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), 34 confirmed cases of BA.2.86 had been identified in England as of September 4. Five of these were hospitalised however no deaths have been reported amongst these cases. Of the 34 cases in England, 28 cases were from a single outbreak at a care home in Norfolk. Specialists from UKHSA have been working with Norfolk County Council to offer infection control advice and support.
