A proud mum has shared the unusual name she’s chosen for her newborn daughter’s name, but not everybody is too keen, with some reckoning it sounds more like a type of biscuit than a sweet little baby
You’re never going to please everyone when it comes to the name you pick for your baby, especially if you opt for a more unusual choice. One new mum has learned this the hard way after announcing her little girl’s name to the world, only for some people to assume she’s been named after a biscuit.
After welcoming her second daughter to the world, businesswoman and YouTube star Imogen Horton went on to share her unusual name with her social media followers, explaining that she had made up the name herself by pulling from various personal meanings. In a TikTok video that showed baby Oriavella Lilac Horton asleep in her cot, Imogen went on to detail what each part of the “little made-up name” actually meant.
Influencer Imogen, who is also mum to Renaelia, revealed: “Ori: meaning ‘my light’. Five days after losing my uncle Ray, I found out I was pregnant, our girl was such a light in a dark time”. She went on to recall how, after Ray’s sad passing, they kept finding white feathers everywhere, which put them in mind of Ray’s “wonderful bright white hair” and love of birds, and so they’d wanted a name that encapsulated this.
Imogen, who goes by the username @Imogenation, continued: “Oria: meaning golden. So her and her sister are bonded for life and will always share a part of their names, our golden girls.” Moving onto the next part of her daughter’s name, Imogen added that “Vella” means beauty, in a nod to a “beautiful” seafront date she and partner Spencer shared on the morning they told people they were expecting their second child.
