WARNING: DISTRESSING CONTENT Aerial footage shows Kyiv’s soldiers ordering Russian troops to lie on the ground as they surrender, before an explosion suddenly goes off on both forces
This is the horrifying moment that Russia opened fire on its own troops after they surrendered.
Ukrainian forces have recaptured the village of Andriivka – about six miles south of the Russia-occupied town of Bakhmut – as part of a slow but steady counter-offensive. The 3rd Assault Brigade said it surrounded the Russian garrison in what it described as a “lightning operation” and destroying it over two days.
Posting on Telegram, it shared a clip said to be taken a day after it recaptured the area. The aerial footage shows Kyiv’s soldiers ordering Russian troops to lie on the ground as they surrender, before an explosion suddenly goes off on both forces.
The post reportedly read: “Assault group 2 of the mechanized battalion takes another group of prisoners. At the same time the enemy, realising that the village is lost and his soldiers are surrendering en masse, orders to open ‘fire on their own.'”
