Freddie Flintoff’s ‘final words’ before Top Gear horror crash revealed

Freddie Flintoff was seriously injured in a crash while filming BBC’s Top Gear last year, with the fate of the popular motoring programme now hanging in the balance

Freddie Flintoff’s ‘final words’ before his horror crash while filming Top Gear have been revealed.

The England cricket star, 45, suffered severe facial injuries when he was filming the BBC show last year. Freddie is yet to speak out about the crash, but the future of Top Gear is hanging in the balance after a full review of the health and safety of the popular programme, according to reports.

BBC bosses made the decision to halt filming the recent series of the motoring show after Freddie was involved in the horrific crash in December, 2022 while working on Top Gear’s’ 34th season. The sports star was left with several facial injuries as well as broken ribs after the incident and now his last words before the crash have reportedly been revealed.

Sources claim Freddie said: “Do I need a helmet?”, before the terrifying smash, reports Mail on Sunday. It’s also claimed the car Freddie was driving, which later flipped, was not fully equipped with airbags as it was a “motorised tricycle” according to the maker’s website. Shortly after the horrific incident, the former cricketer was airlifted to hospital from the track at Dunsfold Park Aerodrome in Surrey.
