Aaron Rodgers may have reason to believe he could return to NFL this season after surgery

The New York Jets have ruled quarterback Aaron Rodgers out for the remainder of the 2023 – but there is a chance he could be back for any potential playoff games later this season

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers could return from injury as soon as January after undergoing innovative surgery.

Rodgers, 39, went under the knife on Wednesday in Los Angeles, some 48 hours after completely tearing his left Achilles four snaps into Monday night’s game against the Buffalo Bills. The day after, a statement shared by the team ruled him out of the rest of the 2023 season.

However, the four-time NFL MVP continues to hold out hope of returning to play a part in potential playoff games during the new year. He said as much while refusing to rule out playing again this season earlier this week.

The reasons for such optimism are now apparent. It is because of the particular operation Rodgers underwent earlier this week. As NFL.com reports, orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache performed a procedure that places a brace inside the back of the lower leg and over the ruptured tendon.
