Red Bull had a horrible weekend in Singapore, not only losing their 100 per cent win record for the 2023 season but not even being in podium contention with their cars unusually slow
Sergio Perez was slapped with a time penalty after the conclusion of the Singapore Grand Prix.
He was investigated by the Formula 1 stewards after the race over an incident involving Alex Albon. A battle at turn 13 resulted in the two cars making contact.
After investigating the incident, the stewards decided Perez was “predominantly to blame”. He was given a five-second time penalty and had one penalty point added to his licence.
The good news for the Mexican is that he still keeps hold of eighth place as he was too far ahead of Liam Lawson to lose it through that penalty alone. But it is a fitting end to what has proven to be a terrible race weekend for Red Bull.
