"£40,000 for a new battery for a Porsche Taycan," Lee kept repeating in disbelief. The owner's shock came just moments after he told his viewers he hoped he wouldn't have to replace the battery. But Lee gained some of his hope back once he received the technician's report, which showed that the battery compartment was intact and "there was nothing wrong" with the car. "It's absolutely fine. It may have been a glitch on the software," he said. "So, touch wood that won't happen again. "It only happened a couple of times and it was on a really hot day after a long journey from the Lake District back to Mansfield. "The system kept saying that I needed to wait for the battery compartment to cool down so I could charge it." Lee was on the M1 motorway when a piece of wood fell off the back of a lorry and went under his car with an "almighty thud". "After that incident the car seemed to be overheating and it didn't charge properly until it stopped charging altogether," he explained. Lee is one of many EV owners to face a series of frustrations with their electric vehicles.
