Former Labour leader was interviewed ahead of 2015 election by comedian, who now faces sex abuse allegations that he strongly denies
The Labour Party is facing questions over the decision of former party leader Ed Miliband to seek the endorsement of Russell Brand ahead of the 2015 election.
Mr Miliband, now shadow climate secretary in Sir Keir Starmer’s top team, sat down for an interview with the comedian and argued Brand said “what a number of people are thinking” as he sought to win back support for Labour after five years in opposition.
The party is facing scrutiny over the past connection as Brand, 48, faces accusations of a rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse in a period spanning seven years.
The comedian, who is in the middle of a UK tour, has vehemently denied the “very, very serious criminal allegations”, insisting that all his sexual relationships have been consensual.
