An opening date for the new store is yet to be confirmed but a Matalan spokesperson said it would be 'mid Autumn'. The move comes amid a downsizing of the B&Q store at the shopping centre. This will allow space for three other businesses. Aldi and Home Bargains were revealed as prospective tenants last year. And a map on the Matalan website suggests the fashion and homewares store will take the third spot inside the revamped unit. A Matalan spokesperson said: "I can confirm that our current Portsmouth store on Station Rd will be closing on 30th September... "And will be relocating to a great new unit at the Pompey Centre retail park. "The new store will be opening mid Autumn." It comes as Matalan is offering newborn Christmas baby grows for just £1.50 down from £7 at a closing down sale.
