Owner of ‘XL Bullies’ that savaged dad to death was spoken to twice over dogs, say police

Surrey Police confirmed it had been in contact with the dog owner on two previous occasions – once when the XL Bullies were off their leash and another when they mounted another dog

The owner of two XL Bully dogs that mauled a dad to death had been spoken to twice over keeping his dogs under control, police have said.

Aston Villa fan Ian Price, 52, was attacked by the crazed animals just yards from his family home on Thursday afternoon. He had been visiting his elderly mum, who lives opposite, when the dogs apparently escaped from the window of a neighbouring property.

Horrified neighbours heard Ian’s screams as the XL Bullies launched their savage attack, and eyewitnesses told how the dogs tore his clothes from his body as he tried to protect his mum. Ian, who ran a restoration business from the family home, was airlifted to hospital but sadly died from his injuries.

A 30-year-old man, from South Staffordshire, has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and being in charge of dogs dangerously out of control causing injury. He has since been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
