Victoria Derbyshire leads stars reacting to Russell Brand’s denial of ‘serious’ allegations

Victoria Derbyshire is amongst a string of celebrities who are reacting on social media after Russell Brand shared a video to deny ‘serious’ and ‘criminal’ allegations put to him

Victoria Derbyshire has lead celebrities in reacting to Russell Brand’s video statement in which he denied ‘serious’ and ‘criminal’ allegations put to him.

The 48-year-old comedian issued a lengthy statement in which he said he had received an ‘extremely disturbing’ letter and email from a TV company and newspaper, which “listing a litany of extremely egregious and aggressive attacks”. Russell denied the allegations, but didn’t go into detail as to what they were.

He spoke out ahead of the airing of the Channel 4 Dispatches show, scheduled to air tonight at 9pm. The documentary is set to highlight the behaviour of an A-list name, the Mirror understands, and is said to be hugely damaging. Ahead of the show airing, Russell issued a statement on his social media.

Following the release of his statement, which can be read in full here, celebrities reacted online. Channel 4 newsreader Krishnan Guru-Murthy posted a cryptic tweet saying “something’s up” before quickly deleting it.
