 The owner of two XL Bully dogs which killed a 52-year-old father was warned by police multiple times over his out-of-control dogs. Ian Price, from Stonnall, Staffordshire, was mauled to death by the two dogs which jumped out of a neighbour's window on Thursday afternoon. Staffordshire Police arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of manslaughter, saying they are 'aware' of previous interactions with the owner of the dogs. He has been released on conditional bail. They reportedly warned the man after the dogs were found to be off the leash on one occasion, and mounted a dog on another, MailOnline reports. The force added: 'On 14 January 2023, we received a report involving concern around two XL Bully dogs who were off their lead in a field in Stonnall. 'We went to owner's address and gave words of advice around keeping the dogs under control whilst in a shared public place. The owner was co-operative and engaged positively with officers. 'Both dogs were in the address at the time and appeared to be calm. They did not show any signs of aggression towards officers. Ian Price was mauled to death just yards away from a primary school 'On 30 March 2023, we then received reports that two XL Bully dogs had mounted another dog in Stonnall. 'No injuries were caused to the dog or anyone who was in the area at the time. No complaints were made in relation to the incident and no offences were identified. 'The owner of the dog was spoken to by officers around making sure they are under control at all times.' Detectives said the pets, which are now both dead, appear to be XL Bully dogs, but further work is needed to confirm whether they belong to the controversial breed – which is now due to be banned. Ian's death was indirectly referenced by Rishi Sunak as one of a spate of recent incidents which, he said, show the breed is 'a danger to our communities, particularly our children'.
