Lance Stroll in terrifying crash at Singapore GP as Aston Martin car destroyed

Lance Stroll was involved in a major crash (Image: F1 TV) Lance Stroll was caught in a huge crash during qualifying ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix as his Aston Martin collided with the wall on the exit of the final corner.  The young Canadian was battling to escape the elimination zone but was clearly struggling with the balance of his car, correcting a snap coming out of the final corner which put him on a collision course with the barriers. Stroll was already fighting oversteer heading into the final string of corners when the car bottomed out coming off the kerb. The 24-year-old lost control of his car and collided with the barriers with a huge impact, ending the session early.  With such a huge impact, the immediate thoughts turned to Stroll’s safety. When checked on by his race engineer the Canadian driver confirmed that he had escaped the incident without injury. Ted Kravitz confirmed during Sky Sports F1’s qualifying broadcast that the Canadian was taken straight to the medical centre for the mandatory check-ups, bringing his session to an early end. With Stroll’s lap ending in the wall, the Aston Martin driver will start Sunday’s Grand Prix from 20th on the grid, but his crash also ensured that four other drivers were eliminated without the chance to improve. Joining Stroll in exiting qualifying at the Q1 stage were Alfa Romeo driver Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu, a well as McLaren’s star rookie Oscar Piastri and the struggling Logan Sargeant.
