 It comes after a vicious attack by an XL Bully dog on an 11-year-old girl in Birmingham last weekend. Mr Wolfe was walking along the River Test in Totton with Tia, on their way towards The Anchor Inn pub, when the XL Bully 'sprinted' out between two cars and ran towards the pair. The 54-year-old said: 'I tried to grab my dog but it was so close. It bit my hand. It grabbed my dog and was shaking her. It was so strong, it was unbelievable. The owners heard what was happening and came running up. 'It was horrific, I didn't want to pull on my dog too hard as I didn't want to snap her neck. 'There was blood everywhere, I was in so much shock.' Mr Wolfe described the owners as two 'really big, muscular guys – bodybuilder types' and added: 'They tried to wrestle it away and I tried to get Tia away but nothing happened. They had no control over the dog.' It was traumatic.' A customer from the pub came over and offered to drive Tia to Millbrook Vets in the city where she underwent emergency surgery and had stitches to her neck. A pet owner says he was bitten on the hand and his dog savaged by a ‘massive’ XL Bully in terrifying attack.
Leo Wolfe was walking his Cocker Spaniel-Dachshund cross, Tia, in Southampton when the ‘beast of an animal’, who was not on a lead, ran over and attacked them on September 3.
Mr Wolfe escaped with minor injuries but Tia was badly hurt on the neck where the XL Bully had taken hold of the little dog and shaken her.
She was rushed to the vets who managed to save her life, but Mr Wolfe says ‘something has to be done’ about the dangerous breed.
