The Little Big Things review: Chorus of approval is not enough to make this show fly

If you were a producer looking for an endorsement for your new musical, you’d be ecstatic if Lord Lloyd Webber declared on social media: “I’ve just had the most exciting night in a theatre for years . . . This tale of conquering disability is funny, moving, uplifting, wonderfully performed and brilliantly crafted. It will be an international smash.”

That’s exactly what happened with this show, based on the bestselling 2017 memoir by Henry Fraser. Can it fail? Nothing would please me more than to say that his Lordship is right, and that the West End has a runaway hit. But I’m not convinced.
