FPL injury news: Five Man Utd stars out, Arsenal scare, Tottenham Son worry

Five worst Premier League managers of the last five years This week’s Fantasy Premier League deadline is on Saturday at 11am, with plenty of managers facing big decisions after the international break. However, as usual when players go away to compete for their countries, some important stars pick up injuries on the way as FPL could be seriously impacted. Here, Express Sport looks at the latest team news ahead of this week’s deadline. Man Utd injury crisis Erik ten Hag and Manchester United are being hampered by injuries before they host Brighton on Saturday, with a host of top names set to be sidelined through injury. The likes of Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane, Mason Mount and Tyrell Malacia remain on the treatment table and are very unlikely to play a part against the Seagulls. Lisandro Martinez and new boy Sofyan Amrabat did not feature for their countries, as concerns remain over their fitness, while Jadon Sancho’s public spat with Ten Hag may see his gametime limited. Antony will also miss the game having been placed on a leave of absence by the club amid allegations of domestic abuse. Arsenal’s Gabriel knock Arsenal defender Gabriel sent owners into a panic after suffering a knock away with Brazil, having been forced off in the closing stages of the game thanks to a thigh injury and was spotted on the bench with an ice pack strapped to his leg. He was also on the receiving end of a nasty challenge in the opening few minutes of the game, having been kneed in the chest – but he recovered from both in time to feature in Brazil’s second international game in a major boost for those who want to field him away to Everton this week. However, he too was seen wearing an ice pack on his knee during the break as he nurses an injury. He continued to play for South Korea, however, but has been wearing strapping on that same knee this season and may be a slight concern for new buyers, though there is no indication that Tottenham’s talisman is injured ahead of this weekend. Liverpool defence hampered Liverpool’s reshuffled defence picked up their first clean sheet of the season in their recent 3-0 win over Aston Villa, but could be without Trent Alexander-Arnold after the right-back pulled out of the England squad as a result of a hamstring issue. Jurgen Klopp may give a further indication of the seriousness in his pre-match press conference, though Virgil van Dijk will miss the game after his one-match ban was extended by an additional game. But in more positive news, Ibrahima Konate and Thiago are closing in on returns.
