Drew Barrymore dropped as awards show host over writers’ strike

NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT

Drew Barrymore has been dropped as the host of the 74th National Book Awards.

The National Book Foundation explained it had revoked the 48-year-old’s offer to host over her decision to bring back her self-titled talk show amid the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike.

The ceremony is set to take place in New York on November 15, but the National Book Foundation confirmed in a statement shared on X, formerly known on Twitter, that Drew would no longer be hosting.

In a tweet shared on Tuesday the foundation said: ‘In light of the announcement that The Drew Barrymore Show will resume production, the National Book Foundation has rescinded Ms Barrymore’s invitation to host the 74th National Book Awards Ceremony.’
