John Terry issues stern response as he charges fans £100 for an autograph

John Terry has strongly defended the decision to charge fans £100 for an autograph as he embarks on a tour to raise money for his foundation as he hit out at the press

John Terry has defended charging £100 for an autograph in an effort to raise funds for his foundation as he took aim at “the press writing s**t”.

The former Chelsea captain is in the midst of holding a tour, which began in Basingstoke on Friday night. The costs involved have raised eyebrows with fans paying £25 per ticket only to then be charged three figures to get an autograph whilst they can also pay a mammoth £500 to dine with Terry.

Such numbers have been criticised but the 42-year-old has aired his frustration with the lack of clarity regarding where such funds are going. Terry has reiterated that all the money raised will go directly to his foundation.

He said on Instagram on Tuesday: “Hi guys, just wanted to touch on the stories the press are writing about me charging fans £100 for signatures and photos and drinks or whatever that may be. The big thing – and this is very important – the big thing that they forgot to mention is that all proceeds from these events that I’ve been doing – and the only reason that I signed up – is to raise money for my foundation, for the John Terry 26 Foundation.
