New PS5 update adds Dolby Atmos, 8TB SSD support, QOL features and UI changes

The update also adds some new accessibility features that use a second Dualsense controller

A new PS5 update has released today bringing over some highly requested features which were previously in Beta.

Sony has announced a brand new PlayStation firmware update rolling out to PS5 users today. The firmware update adds support for larger M.2 SSDs going up to 8TB (up from the previous 4TB limit), 3D audio support for Dolby Atmos devices and improved QOL, UI and Social features. If this sounds familiar it’s because these changes were released into the PS5 firmware beta back in July, and are now being pushed out to the general public.

One of the best features added in this update (that is frankly astonishing that it’s taken this long) is the ability to adjust the volume or mute the PS5 beep sound. You can do this from the System menu in Settings. Another update that is such a given that it’s shocking that it’s taken this long is the ability to search for specific games in your PS5 game library, which has been added with this latest update.

The following is the full list of PS5 update patch notes as posted on the PlayStation Blog:
