Artist creates new impression of what Madeline McCann could look like today

Madeleine McCann, who would have turned 20 this year, vanished mysteriously (Image: Getty) An artist has created images of what Madeleine McCann is believed to look like today, claiming that the adult Madeleine resembles her sister, Amelie, who was recently pictured for the first time. Simone Malik, 42, created these artist impressions to aid in the search for the missing child because she sees parallels between Madeleine and her younger sister, Amelie, who is now 18 years old. Amelie’s photograph was released, for the first time since she was a toddler, in May of this year, when she attended a vigil commemorating the 16th anniversary of Madeleine’s disappearance. Madeleine, who would now be 20 years old, went missing from a Portuguese holiday resort on May 3, 2007, when she was just three years old. Simone, who describes herself as a ‘super recogniser,’ created paintings to aid in the search for Madeleine, claiming that the two share similarities in their lips, eyebrows, eye area, and square chin. Artist Simone Malik has created compelling images of what Madeleine McCann might look like today (Image: Simone Malik/SWNS) Simone said: “Madeleine has the same eyebrow and eye area like her sister, the same prominent lines on her neck too – which were evident in her childhood photos. “Madeleine and Amelie also share the same square chin feature. Madeleine’s jaw line is more angular and a bit more chiselled compared to her sisters. She also possibly has dimples at the bottom half of her cheeks, which Amelie, does not have. “Madeleine McCann has a similar mouth to Amelie McCann, however Madeleine’s upper lip is thinner and the gap from between her nose and lip is also longer.” Simone, who used her composite sketch to help apprehend a child killer and rapist in Pakistan, also noticed on the sisters’ startling similarity in facial features. She said: “The facial features between Madeleine and sister Amelie, are shocking. Amelie’s recent and very first media appearance this year, definitely confirm my theory of Madeleine’s features.” When Madeleine reached the age of 18, Simone drew a portrait of Madeleine’s aunt, Philomena, whom she thought resembled Madeleine. The artist has now released this image of Madeleine in order to aid in the search for the missing girl. She is begging anyone who sees someone who looks like Madeleine to come forward with information. Simone, of Bradford, West Yorks, said: “I strongly believe, I have cracked the mystery of Madeleine MacCann’s face, as she would look today. We are basically looking for a look alike of Amelie McCann. “I would urge anyone who sees a face like this or who believes they could be Madeleine McCann – to please come forward.”
