Daniel Ricciardo hint dropped by AlphaTauri chief as 2024 F1 race seat under threat

Ricciardo wants to get his F1 career back on track by keeping his inherited AlphaTauri seat for 2024, but a broken hand has opened the door for Red Bull junior Liam Lawson

Peter Bayer has hinted that Daniel Ricciardo may keep hold of his AlphaTauri race seat for 2024 despite his injury.

The Aussie is currently sidelined with a broken bone in his left hand after a crash in the Netherlands. Red Bull junior Liam Lawson has been filling in and will continue to do so until Ricciardo is fit enough to race again.

It means the 34-year-old’s return to a Formula 1 race seat has been a frustrating one so far. He raced just twice before the summer break, after which he suffered that crash and has been back out of action.

It has also given Lawson an opportunity to stake a claim for his seat. The New Zealander has impressed in his two outings so far and is believed to have an outside chance of winning a 2024 race seat with the team.
