Urgent Chrome alert issued to all users

If you use Google Chrome it’s vital to check your browser and make sure it’s updated to the very latest version.

Billions of Chrome users are being urged to check their web browsers without delay. The critical warning, which has just been issued by Google, is due to a bug that’s been discovered within this hugely popular software. That might not sound all that scary but what makes this glitch so serious is that it’s been given the dreaded zero-day rating.

For those unaware, zero-day means the problem has already been spotted by hackers and is being actively exploited in the wild right now.

That’s why Google has rushed so quickly to patch things up and why you should update Chrome as soon as you can.

“Critical CVE-2023-4863: Heap buffer overflow in WebP,” explained Google on its security page. “Google is aware that an exploit for CVE-2023-4863 exists in the wild.”
