‘I suffer from rare personality disorder which makes me think I’m The Devil’

Jennifer Dumaresq, from Colorado, with multiple personalities describes them as like a “group of friends” and says together they are tackling the stigma around her disorder

A woman with a rare personality disorder which makes her think she’s ‘The Devil’ went undiagnosed for eight years after suffering terrifying blackouts.

PhD engineering student Jennifer Dumaresq, 33, from Colorado, has multiple personalities, including young women and a mysterious male known as ‘The Devil’, and describes them as being like a “group of friends.”

Jennifer has come to terms with having dissociative identity disorder (DID) and insists she and her ‘other selves’ are far from the ‘scary monster’ portrayal of the condition in films such as Fight Club and Split.

Jennifer, who has complex PTSD from childhood sexual abuse which began when she was a toddler, has not always been at peace with her condition. She has limited memories from before the age of 18 when she moved to the US from Canada.
