LeBron James is reportedly keen to take part in the Paris 2024 Olympics with Team USA which could offer a hint on his future in the NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers
NBA superstar LeBron James’ future in basketball looks set to take another unexpected twist with a mission to play in the next Olympics that could set him up for a legendary finish to his career.
James finished his 20th season in the NBA earlier this year as the Los Angeles Lakers were beaten by eventual champions the Denver Nuggets in a 4-0 series sweep in the Western Conference finals.
After the Game 4 loss, James hinted that he could be set to retire from basketball. However, the 38-year-old confirmed in a speech at the ESPY Awards in July that he would continue to play in the NBA.
James has two years left to run on a contract with the Lakers, which he agreed to in 2022 but does not kick in until this season. The deal would see James earn $97 million (£77 million) with the second year in the deal for 2024-25 being a player option.
