Raducanu’s £2m sponsor sends ‘proud’ message to Novak Djokovic and Coco Gauff

Tiffany and Co, one of the sponsors of the US Open , has announced that they are proud of both Novak Djokovic and Coco Gauff following their successes after awarding the duo with their respective – and equal-sized – trophies. The jewellery company are the official trophy partner of the awards and also sponsor sidelined British tennis star  Emma Raducanu . Djokovic battled to victory over Daniil Medvedev in New York to secure a record-extending 24th Grand Slam singles title, beating his rival 6-3 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 in a hard-fought victory. The new world No 1 was visibly relieved after his championship-winning point and will have his heart set on becoming the most decorated tennis player ever with a 25th triumph at January’s Australian Open. In contrast, Coco Gauff’s maiden Grand Slam women’s title felt like the moment that will kickstart a very successful career for the 19-year-old. The American staged a brilliant comeback to beat Aryna Sabalenka 2-6 6-3 6-2 in an enthralling spectacle. Both successes will be remembered for vastly different reasons by both players, though the duo received equally eye-catching trophies on the night. As of this year, the men’s and women’s keepsake trophies are of equal size. ‘Both classic and iconic, the Singles Championship Trophy weighs 10 pounds and stands 18.5 inches in height. Tiffany’s artisans at its Cumberland, Rhode Island workshop employ age-old techniques such as spinning, silversmithing, turning, casting, wire forming, sodering, hallmarking, polishing and hand engraving to create the trophy over a course of approximately five months.’ Coco Gauff proudly showed off her US Open trophy (Image: Getty)
