Where fashion editors go to eat cake. Yes, really

For those who can’t get enough of their favourite fashion houses, there is good news. Many of the most recognisable luxury brands have decided to expand their territory, not with new collections of clothes and accessories, but with food. Yes, it’s time to eat fashion cake!

The aesthetically pleasing sage green decor may be reason enough to visit Harrods’s pop-up Prada Caffè (open until Jan 7), but the food here is just as tasty as the furnishings – specifically the pistachio cake. If you’re in the market for something more than cake and coffee, the creamy burrata is an excellent choice – and splitting it with a Prada logo-ed knife makes it just that bit more satisfying. The wine list covers bottles from Sicily to Piedmont, and the Mediterraneo cocktail, with Seven Hills gin, Rosolio di Bergamotto, mandarin juice and tonic, is fruity and refreshing. On your way out it’s worth getting something to take away, just to have the beautiful packaging and the matching green Prada shopping bag for keeps. harrods.com

Anya Hindmarch’s cafe is just a few doors down from her Pont Street shops. There is outdoor as well as indoor seating available, and it makes a perfect spot for afternoon tea in the sun. Offering sandwiches in the shape of a fish, an egg and a smiley face, it’s a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach. The lemon meringue is in the shape of a cloud and the berry tart is made to look like a caterpillar, with googly eyes on the raspberries. The chubby heart – a glossy, red, heart-shaped chocolate and raspberry mousse – is easy to fall in love with, after which you will be ready to head next door and commence a sugar-fuelled shopping spree.

Tiffany’s Blue Box Cafe at Harrods is worth the visit just so you can say that you’ve had breakfast at Tiffany’s. The eggs florentine is a favourite, with perfectly poached eggs served atop a crispy potato rosti. If you prefer something more New York, the Faroe Island smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel is a great option. The croissants are cube-shaped and filled with chocolate cremeux, lemon curd or raspberry jam. There’s also a Tiffany’s afternoon tea featuring Packington Farm coronation chicken and black truffle egg mayonnaise sandwiches, along with egg soldiers and a chocolate bear cupcake for the children.

This London Fashion Week (Sep 15-19), Raey Cafe at 5 Carlos Place in Mayfair will return for its fourth season. Raey, the luxury in-house brand of Matches Fashion, collaborates with restaurants for its cafe series and this year it will be continuing its partnership with Silo, the world-famous zero-waste restaurant. There will be treats from Pophams Bakery, with a specially created Silo x Popham’s pastry. The founder of Silo, Douglas McMaster, has been working with Rachel Proud, the creative director of Raey, to devise the zero-waste breakfast and lunch offerings. Most dishes are vegan and highlight seasonal produce such as tomatoes, mushrooms and courgettes. Food will be complimentary to all guests who stop by 5 Carlos Place. In fashion, there is such a thing as a free lunch. matchesfashion.com
