Prince Harry started this year’s Invictus Games solo but he made it clear wife Meghan Markle was a big part of the event by mentioning her in his speech during the opening ceremony this evening
Prince Harry teased a new rivalry with wife Meghan Markle after making a joke about her in his speech at the Invictus Games opening ceremony.
The Duke of Sussex has travelled to the Games in Dusseldorf alone and made a solo appearance on stage, where he addressed the crowd in the German city. However, it is expected that Meghan will join him next week.
And during his speech tonight, he joked about how things had become a little more competitive between the pair and the teams they were supporting after she discovered her Nigerian ancestry – something she revealed on her axed Spotify podcast Archetypes.
Nigeria along with Israel and Columbia are among new nations participating in the 2023 Games and Harry quipped: “Since my wife discovered she is of Nigerian descent it’s likely to get a little more competitive this year!”
