Shein sues Chinese rival in High Court copycat row

Online retailer accuses Temu of copying thousands of images from its website

A Chinese fashion retailer accused of ripping off Western designers is suing a local rival in London’s High Court as part of its own copycat row.

Shein, an online “fast fashion” retailer that has become hugely popular with Gen Z, has accused rival app Temu of copying thousands of images from its website.

The Chinese e-commerce company, which has grown to become the world’s biggest fashion retailer, claims it has “identified thousands of instances” where sellers on Temu had used pictures taken from Shein’s website to market and sell their products.

In court papers filed at the High Court and seen by the Telegraph, the Chinese company claims Temu has been “competing unfairly” passing off its products as those sold by Shein.
