Saudis ‘think Liverpool will sell Mohamed Salah in January’ but need Man City favour

Liverpool transfer news: Mohamed Salah could be subject of January interest Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad are reportedly confident of signing Mohamed Salah in January if Liverpool are not in a title race. The winger has stayed put at Anfield but interest is set to resurface in the winter transfer window. Liverpool held off Al-Ittihad late in the summer window. They rejected a verbal offer worth up to £150million for their star forward. Reports this week claimed the Saudi club were prepared to return with a new bid which could have reached £220m including add-ons. Manchester City are again strong favourites to land their fourth successive title. Pep Guardiola’s side have started the campaign on fire and are the only team to have a 100 per cent record in the English top flight. Liverpool have dropped points in just one game though and sit third in the table. The Mirror says Al-Ittihad believe Liverpool will be open to doing business if they are not in contention to win their second title in four years. However, they are aware it will be nearly impossible if Liverpool are competing for top spot. The Saudi side therefore need a favour from City to keep alive their hopes of signing Salah. City have traditionally started seasons slow under Guardiola before picking up their form after Christmas.
