A HIGH street bank with more than 500 locations is to shut a branch for good within hours.
Halifax is pulling the shutters down on eight branches starting with its Newmarket location on September 11.
Data from LINK, which is the UK’s largest cash machine network, shows that 49 high street branches are set to close in September.
Barclays, HSBC, Santander, NatWest and Lloyds are also among those to be affected as more banking services are moved online.
Barclays is closing down 18 branches this month, HSBC is closing four locations and Santander is closing two of its branches in Milton Keynes.
