Linda Nolan has accepted she will never be cancer-free, but is thrilled to have recently learned that the disease is at bay. The 64-year-old was told her cancer had spread to her brain after doctors found tumours earlier this year, but a recent check-up determined they had not grown. Linda’s news was given at her latest appointment on Monday, where she was accompanied by her sister Anne, following her latest round of chemotherapy. In her new column with The Mirror, she said of receiving the update: “The relief rolled over me like a wave. “Thank God. My tumours are stable and haven’t got any bigger. Every three weeks, for as long as I can tolerate it.’ Linda has vowed to stay positive throughout her cancer battle, which began back in 2005, but has come to terms with knowing it’ll never be over. She continued: “I went off to have my sixth cycle then. It’s become a way of life now. I have my cancer book – a title I never thought I’d have in my library – with all my bloods, weight and so on recorded (I’ve lost 4kg, although I reckon I could live off what’s left for some time).” The Nolans singer went on to call the nurses on her chemo ward a “great ear” who always listened to those who were feeling low or needed a chat. Seeing others finish their treatment and ring the bell, she added, had been “lovely” to watch. And I know now I won’t be ringing it again,” she added. The realisation doesn’t make Linda angry as she vows to continue trying to live a happy life. Linda beat her first battle with breast cancer in 2006. In 2017, she was diagnosed with a form of incurable secondary cancer in her pelvis, which later spread to her liver. Back in July, the ex-Big Brother star revealed she shaved her head for the fourth time after losing clumps of her hair. She previously told the publication: “My friend who is a hairdresser came round and just shaved it. Then I said “Get me a cap, we’re going out for a drink!” “I just feel, because I’ve been having steroid treatment as well and my face is swollen, I look like Mrs Potato Head.” She added: “People say, ‘Well you know you look great’, but inside I’m screaming ‘I just don’t want to lose my hair again!’ I was devastated at losing it.” Linda lost her husband Brian to cancer in 2007 and younger sister Bernie in 2013, while sister Anne fought the disease. The sisters received devastating cancer diagnoses within days of each other and soon began gruelling rounds of chemotherapy together. In 2021, they released their book titled Stronger Together, a reflection on their close-knit relationship, careers and health battles.
