Coronation Street has been taken off air on Friday, September 8, after ITV made some schedule changes. Instead of its usual 8pm slot, fans will have to wait a few days to see what the residents of Weatherfield have been up to. Regular programming is believed to continue again on Monday evening (September 11) at its usual time. The broadcaster pulled the soap off air to make way for the Rugby World Cup, which will be shown from 6:35pm until 10:35pm It means Emmerdale also won’t be airing as both soaps broadcast during this time period. Coronation Street has been postponed until next week (Image: ITV) However, ITV did broadcast an extra episode of both soaps earlier this week in preparation for the schedule shake-up. On Wednesday, viewers were treated to an explosive episode involving Lauren Bolton (played by Cait Fitton). As Lauren’s jealousy of former beau Max Turner (Paddy Bever) reached boiling point, her anger got the better of her. Going through social media and seeing pics of the teen with his new love interest Sabrina Adetiba (Luana Santos), Lauren couldn’t take it any longer. In a fit of rage, the troubled teen smashed Audrey Roberts’ (Sue Nicholls) salon to pieces, leaving Max horrified when he discovered the mess. Although he told Lauren he’d try and cover for her, prompting her to go back to work, it looked as though her problems didn’t end there. With her future now in the air, the soap star revealed how the arrest was a wake-up call for Lauren, who doesn’t want to end up like her father behind bars. Actress Cait Fitton said: ‘ I think it’s given her a taste of what her dad’s going through. ‘It’s made her realise that the life she is currently living is a life that she doesn’t want for herself and is really disappointed by her behaviour.” Has Lauren destroyed her relationship with Max for good? (Image: ITV) The soap star confessed her character is a ticking time bomb as she holds in her feelings due to not having anyone to vent to. She added: ‘Coming back and realising that Max was with Sabrina was a kick in the stomach for Lauren. ‘Max was really all she had as she obviously doesn’t have her dad around, doesn’t have a mum, hasn’t got any friends so she hasn’t got anyone she can release her anxiety or worries on.’ However, fans will have to wait until next week to see what will happen to Lauren following the arrest and if she’s lost Max for good. Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV from 8pm.
