Great Britain’s Joe Salisbury claimed his sixth grand slam trophy by making history in New York, winning three consecutive US Open men’s doubles titles for the first time in the professional era with his American partner Rajeev Ram.
Salisbury, 31, and Ram, 39, achieved something not seen at this tournament since the American pair of Maurice McLoughlin and Tom Bundy dominated the doubles event from 1912 to 1914.
This moves Salisbury to within one title of becoming the joint-most successful British player at a grand slam since the professional open era began in 1968 – alongside his three US Open titles, he has also won the 2020 Australian Open men’s doubles, and mixed events at both the French Open and US Open in 2021.
