NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Animal lovers across the US and world were captivated by a giraffe that was born without spots – and she now has a name.
The baby giraffe with a solid brown-colored coat instead of spots is now five weeks old. She is the only known reticulated giraffe in the world without the species’ signature spots.
Brights Zoo in Limestone, Tennessee, introduced her last month and presented four names for fans to vote on: Firyali which means extraordinary or unusual, Jamella which means one of great beauty, Kipekee which means unique in Swahili, and Shakiri which means she is most beautiful.
The zoo unveiled the winning name live on NBC’s TODAY show on Tuesday morning.
