Danelo Cavalcante, jailed for fatally stabbing an ex-girlfriend, managed to flee while a guard was off-duty
A convicted murderer made a daring escape from prison by “crab-walking” up the side of a building before bolting across its roof and barbed wire.
Danelo Cavalcante, 34, broke out of the prison in West Chester, Pennsylvania, on Aug 31 where he was jailed for stabbing an ex-girlfriend to death in front of her two small children.
Officers are said to have been taken off guard at the time of his departure, despite a similar escape method being used by another inmate earlier this year.
One positioned in a guard tower overlooking the exercise yard, where the escape occurred, “did not observe nor report the escape”.
