Real North-South divide shows huge difference in who is paying more for kebabs and beer

Drinkers in the County Durham town of Consett only pay £2.65 for a pint, according to a survey by data consultancy CGA meanwhile in London the price is usually over £6

It can cost almost three times more for a pint and a kebab in London as people are paying some other parts of the UK, new research shows.

Drinkers in the County Durham town of Consett only pay £2.65 for a pint, according to a survey by data consultancy CGA. Meanwhile in London the price is usually over £6 with an eye-watering average spend of £6.63 in the affluent west of the capital.

And after a few pints many of us head to the kebab shop for a treat on the way home after a night out. And the divide shows here too, with those in the cheapest areas paying just a third as much as those in south-east London for a kebab.

The priciest area in London for a kebab was Greenwich, in the south-east London where the price can be a hefty £13.90. While in Surrey prices also regularly get as high as £12 for the greasy treat. However Northerners are laughing all the way to the takeaway counter as they only have to fork out half as much. In Blaydon-on-Tyne a kebab will set you back a mere £5.50 while in Normanton, West Yorkshire the price is even lower at just £5.
