Sergio Ramos aims dig at players moving to Saudi Arabia after making emotional transfer

Former Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain star Sergio Ramos has returned to Sevilla after 18 years having previously been linked with making a big-money switch to Saudi Arabia this summer

Sergio Ramos has fired a subtle dig at players in Saudi Arabia by claiming he is not motivated by money after his Sevilla return was confirmed.

The Spanish defender, 37, found himself without a club earlier this summer after allowing his Paris Saint-Germain contract to run down. He was previously linked with making a move to Saudi Arabia for the final years of his career.

Should Ramos had made the move, he would have been reunited with former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema at Al-Ittihad. It would also have seen him come up against another Los Blancos icon in the form of Cristiano Ronaldo – the Portuguese becoming one of the first big names to make the move after his Manchester United exit.

However, Ramos has not followed his former teammates and instead turned down a switch to the Gulf state in favour of former club Sevilla, with his reasons not driven by his pay packet.
