Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has spoken about how the team will cope without his teammate Chris Jones.
The future of Jones with the Chiefs has been the subject of speculation in recent days as the 2023 NFL regular season nears. The reigning Super Bowl champions face the Detroit Lions in the Week 1 season opener on Thursday night.
However, it seems that Jones will not be part of the roster for the game due to a contract impasse with the Chiefs. The defensive tackle has not been in practice and as a result, is a major doubt for the game against the Lions.
Due to Jones not taking part in practice, the 29-year-old has been fined for every session he has missed during the offseason. Reports have claimed that Jones is seeking a new contract with the Chiefs, but as things stand there is no sign of an agreement being reached in time for Jones to begin the season on the field.
