Davina McCall is the host of ITV’s brand new dating show, My Mum, Your Dad, which kicks off on September 11 and was previously dubbed the mid-life Love Island
Davina McCall has revealed she begged ITV bosses to let her help one of the parents on My Mum, Your Dad, who was having a “proper crisis”.
The brand new dating show, which kicks off on September 11, is the brainchild of mum-of-three, Davina, 55, who previously said she “manifested” the series after watching endless episodes of Love Island.
Designed to find love for single parents, viewers can’t wait for the show to start next week. However, Davina told The Mirror and other press one of the contestants had a tough time with their self esteem, revealing she had to step in. She shared: “I went into work once, I did actually say to the production team, ‘Please let me just go and talk to this person’ because they were having a proper crisis. And this person was so lovely, and just could not see it for themselves. I had to go in and say, ‘We chose you because you are brilliant. Like know that, you know?’ So I did that once.”
The seasoned presenter did admit that getting too involved in the parents’ relationships was not a good idea, conceding she didn’t know them, adding their kids would give them advice anyway, so she had to let it “play out”. Davina continued: “Sometimes things don’t work, sometimes they do. But it’s one of those great shows when actually when you just leave it alone, great things happen.”
