A nursing home, social housing and a university arts block have been shortlisted for the Royal Institute of British Architects award, as the capital dominates the running for Britain’s best new building.
The institute announced yesterday that five of the six buildings selected as finalists for the 2023 Riba Stirling Prize are in London.
The award, which has been running since 1996 and will be announced next month, will be given to one of the 131 winners of Riba’s 2023 regional awards.
Warwick University’s new faculty of arts in Coventry is the only shortlisted building outside the capital. It was selected for its unusual shape, created by four interconnected pavilion buildings, designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios to mirror the surrounding trees and parkland backdrop
