Non-royal names George, Charlotte and Louis use at school to be ‘normal’ pupils

The royal children have adopted names at school that help seem a little more normal in their day to day lives. Their Berkshire prep school refrains from calling them ‘prince’ or ‘princess’.

Leaving their royal names behind, The Prince and Princess of Wales’s three children will resume school at their Berkshire prep school this month.

After the death of their late great-grandmother, the Royal children had used the surname Cambridge, but this changed when William became the Prince of Wales changed their titles following the death of the late Queen Elixabeth. Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5 enrolled in Lambrook prep school last September, and now they will start Year 6, Year 4 and Year 1 respectively.

Despite how well known they are across the globe, at school they are known as George Wales, Charlotte Wales and Louis Wales, helping them to be seen as equal to their fellow pupils. They are not referred to as “Prince” or “Princess” by their teachers and classmates.

Now there is speculation that ancient unwritten Royal rule meaning he could choose another name when he becomes King. King Charles could have chosen to rename himself as King Arthur or King Philip due to these being his middle names in what is known as the monarch’s Regnal name.
