UFC legend McGregor shared a brief piece of footage from a light spar he undertook with fellow Irishman Ian Garry, who is the No.11-ranked welterweight in the world
Conor McGregor’s fans were delighted after watching a brief video showing the UFC legend sparring with fellow Irishman Ian Machado Garry, declaring that he is “back”.
The former two-weight world champion is expected to make the jump up to welterweight when he returns to the octagon, and is desperate to salvage a December date with Michael Chandler after two-and-a-half years out of action. But many noted the massive size difference between he and Garry, who is the No.11-ranked fighter in the division right now.
McGregor first took Garry to Crumlin Boxing Club last Thursday afternoon, where they took part in a boxing spar before heading to SBG Ireland later in the week for a full MMA workout. They also had a family meal at McGregor’s South Dublin hotspot The Black Forge Inn with his countryman’s team including his wife; TV host and model Layla Anna-Lee.
Fans in the comments under a video of McGregor and Garry at work believed he looked better than expected in the rare footage, where he exchanged kicks with the top welterweight. “The karate stance and fluidity is back,” one wrote, while another added “Cerrone McGregor boxing with FW McGregor bounce and kicks. Exactly what I wanted to see, Conor.”
