The Loose Women panel sent Ruth Langsford their love after the presenter revealed she had been struck down with a chest infection and had to take time off work
The Loose Women ladies have updated viewers on Ruth Langsford’s health after the popular presenter caught a chest infection.
Ruth, 63, told fans she was on antibiotics after falling ill last week, causing her to take time off work. Thankfully, she appears to be making a recovery as presenter Jane Moore sent the wife of Eamonn Holmes her love. Addressing her friend’s health at start of the show today, she said: “[Ruth]’s been resting up at home with a chest infection. She’s on the mend and hopes to be back very soon, lots of love to you Ruth from all of us.” As panellists Denise Welch, Janet Street-Porter and Gloria Hunniford all applauded their pal, the audience joined in, in a touching moment for the seasoned TV host.
Ruth joked about being absent from the ITV flagship show last week, telling her followers she had the “lurgy”. However, she then revealed the seriousness of her condition, taking to Instagram, sharing: “My ‘lurgy’ is actually a chest infection! So here I am on antibiotics and a steam vaporiser twice a day!” She shared a short clip of the vaporiser in action, before a video of a box of lemon, ginger leaf and manuka tea with the presenter promising: “I’m trying everything!”
In a post on Tuesday, Ruth showed herself blending a mixture of lemon, orange, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, honey and a ‘big splosh’ of whiskey – something she described as a “hot toddy”. Posting on social media, she wrote: “Got the Lurgy! So I’ve made myself a hot toddy and I’m going back to bed!”
