Mum shares ‘tried and tested’ method to achieve ‘dazzling’ white socks fast

For those who walk around the house in just their socks, it won’t be long before the soles are pretty filthy. Often, that means the end of those socks and many often then veer away from white socks after that. Instead of repurchasing new pairs of white socks every time they get dingy, Mrs Hinch fans have shared a product to use. Fed up with washing their child’s white socks just for the stains to remain, one woman took to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks Facebook page to ask for some laundry advice. Kayla Dodd wrote: ‘Hello, does anyone have any tips or tried and tested methods on how to get white socks, white again?  White socks get filthy almost instantly (Image: Getty) ‘My daughter has lots of white school socks that all still fit and it would be a shame to throw them all away. ‘I’d rather re-use them if I can get them looking whiter and less stained.’ The post received over 330 comments from fellow group members, most of them raving about one product in particular – Napisan. Katherine Russell said: ‘100 percent Napisan, you can get it from Morrisons. Just put it in the wash with them as normal and they will come up so clean, I only wished I knew about this with school shirts.’ Kelly Bright wrote: ‘I just pop all my son’s white socks in the machine with Napisan. It’s tried and tested. They come out dazzling white.’ Napisan can be added straight to the wash to whiten laundry (Image: Getty) Joanne Brooke commented: ‘I put a scoop of Napisan in the drum and usual detergent for all my whites and put them on a boil wash, they come out brilliant white.’ Audrey Powell said: ‘My son’s socks are the same and as he insists on Nike ones, they are pricey too.   ‘Do a white wash with a scoop of Napisan and they come up great. His were awful having been at uni and a laundry novice.’ Linda Horlock wrote: ‘Napisan, I use it in all my white washes. It seems to keep them brighter after only one wash cycle.’ Alexis Hazlewood insisted: ‘Add some ‘Napisan’ to a white wash. They’ll come up lovely.’ Looking for a new home, or just fancy a look? Add your postcode below or visit InYourArea Tanya Dolan warned: ‘Bleach will fade any logos on the socks, boiling shrinks them, especially cotton ones, very hot water seals in the stains.  ‘Instead, use Napisan on 30 degrees wash. Works for me every time and is nowhere near as harsh as bleach.’ Napisan is an in-wash stain remover that can work wonders when it comes to laundry. The solution releases active oxygen, which helps remove bacteria and germs. That includes germs and microbes that you cannot see. Express.co.uk found Napisan to retail cheapest at Wilko for £3.70. It can also be picked up at Sainsbury’s for £4.50 usually or £4 with a Nectar card right now.
